Redo the doings

Put a coat of paint on the loft - it was the wrong color - to dark, must redo. Kathleen bought more(correct) paint today therefore should have the room completed by Saturday ready for trim.


















We purchased a new patio swing to replace my old buddy. It is my birthday present early.


































I also completed a reno on a contract bathroom and went down to Calgary and helped brother David and nephew Mat sand a hard wood floor.

Stare at the stairs

Completed the hardwood on the stairs - today.

Loft is floored

Spent the week installing hardwood in the loft, my legs will never be the same.

Sun room furnished

Brought up the patio furniture and placed it in the sunroom.

Sun room almost

Sun room floor and trim almost complete, some final touch ups still to do.













Built a set of stairs for my neighbor. Kathleen says - no more so back to work on the loft floor on Monday.

We're Floored, Again

The sun doesn't always shine in Alberta so Jim had to don some clothes to put down the sub-floor in the sunroom. Then, yesterday, Allan helped haul the flooring in and Jim fitted it to the floor. On Monday, we'll rent the roller and glue the vinyl down. Note that the walls have been painted and are the same dark green as the diningroom.

Happy Valentine's Day!

As you can see, Jim has completely lost his mind and decided to dress for summer even though it is -9C outside (-18C with wind chill). He is painting the ceiling in the sunroom and although it is still February and winter outside, it is a balmy +28C in there and will get much warmer as afternoon arrives.

We were worried that, with all the windows in that room, it would be cold...nothing has prepared us for the amount of heat created by the winter sun that remains in the southern sky all day and beats in the east windows in the morning, south windows in the afternoon and west windows in the evening. We are contemplating creating a fan system that will draw the warm air off and force it down into the basement. In summer, the sun spends the majority of the day over the roof of the house so the temperature isn't as extreme as in the winter.
